Recently, we received the ASRock 990FX Extreme 9 from ASRock which is one of the higher end AMD 990FX motherboard in the market today. This motherboard is equipped with a power phase design that is higher than any Z77 motherboard made available by ASRock, with the exception of Fatal1ty Z77 Professional. By having that kind power phase design, we believe it would provides better performance, overclocking and stability potential and that would be the core of this review. Apart of that, the ASRock 990FX Extreme 9 sports a pretty extravaganza packaging, being the highest end AMD 990FX motherboard offered. It is packed with various of in-house features as well. In this review, we make use of watercooling as the cooling system with the likes of Supremacy – Acetal + Nickel and EK-CoolStream RAD XTX(240) with NB-BlackSilentFan 120MM x4.
The launch of GTX650-Ti on early October 2012 has florished the pool of mid-end graphics card choices which some may see it as a positive scenario. Instead of introducing new 8000 series graphics card in 2013, AMD recently introduced the Radeon HD7790 extending it’s 7000 series line-up. The Radeon HD7790 is a completely new architecture codenamed Bonaire packed with the new clock boosting via PowerTune, which is an improved version of Cape Verde and Pitcairn power routing design. The introduction of Radeon HD7790 is to compete against NVIDIA’s GTX650 Ti and GTX660 offerings. It stands in between AMD’s Radeon HD7770 and HD7800 products. However, NVIDIA is quick to respond by introducing the already “massive” GeForce GTX650 SKU, the GeForce GTX650 Ti Boost Edition.
