Review: Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM and NF-P12 Redux-1700 PWM

Noctua is well known for their excellent CPU cooling range of products such as CPU coolers, cooling fans, and thermal pastes. In the air cooling segment, their most popular products are the highly successful NH-D14 and now the NH-D15/D15S dual-tower coolers.

For cooling fan product, the NF-F12 has been a popular choice for liquid cooling, while the NF-S12A is a decent fan for chassis cooling. In addition, the Austrian-based company also has the Redux and IndustrialPPC fan series in the lineups. This year, the most-anticipated NF-A12x25 fan is finally coming to the market after more than 4.5 years of intensive research and development.

First unveiled during the Computex 2017, the NF-A12x25 fan features a record tight 0.5mm tip clearance and is manufactured from Noctua’s novel Sterrox liquid-crystal polymer (LCP) compound. During this event, Noctua has demonstrated that this fan is able to outperform TWO of the renowned NF-F12 fans. The NF-P12 redux-1700 PWM on the other hand, a high-performance quiet 120mm fan, which is ideal for PC cases, CPU heatsinks, and liquid cooling radiators.

In a recent interview with Lars Strömbäck, the Noctua CTO claimed that this new fan can provide 0.3 to 0.6°C lower temperatures than Nidec’s legendary Gentle Typhoon. Interesting but let’s see if the Sterrox is able to live up to the high expectations.
