The front box showing the illustration of the router itself by D-Link with the speed highlighted of total 1900mbps with 4 main features supported.

Compared to front box which is clean and simplicity, the behind explain multiple features available by the router.

The router is well protected same like egg-tray material that we bought in the mart which helps on both protecting from the drop impact and also maintaining all the items in their place.

Package bundled inside the box:
+ AC1900 Gigabit Router
+ D-Link Installation Guide
+ D-Link Warranty information
+ D-Link Wi-Fi Configuration Card
+ Lan Cable
+ Power Adapter

I can really say this router design is truly awesome! With 4 antennas on the side and the shape that slanted to the front which makes like a spaceship.

From the left, 4 gigabit Lan Ports, Internet Port, Reset Button, WPS Button, Wi-Fi Button, Power Adapter, On-Off Switch. Too bad this model does not have USB Connectivity which I usually use more into plugging in laptop cooler to chill down the router temperature.

Look at that shape! Now you believe the design is like spaceship rite?

The bottom has lots of ventilation holes. With 4 rubber feet to prevent the router from sliding and 2 holes on both left and right in case user want to hang it on the wall.

The web interface is really simple and straight forward. I don’t have any issue finding all the settings and even for first timer won’t have much complicated time to configure the router. If you’re using mobile, they also have mobile web interface which showing basic information of the router.

I did a small test on my apartment comparing with my old D-Link DIR-850L, the cylinder shape with build-in antenna. As you can see the previous router wont able to penetrate the wall well and thus limited on the Wi-Fi Coverage.

Now it comes to another end of review, D-Link did another great job on D-Link DIR 878 AC1900 MU-MIMO Gigabit Wi-Fi Router. Comparing to my previous router, I’m having full house coverage of Wi-Fi connectivity without having any reduced of speed. With lots of useful features such as MU-MIMO Technology, High-Powered Antenna, 3×3 Data Streams which lets simultaneous data transfer and advanced AC Smartbeam which enhance coverage and speed, this router is truly amazing! The only cons I can see is this model does not come with USB Connectivity which lets your printer or USB Storage supporting Wifi mode, but mostly im using the USB port to connect with laptop cooler pad to chill down the router. But I can say, even without laptop cooler, the router itself does not produce much heat! With the pricetag of RM599, I really recommended for those that owning SOHO or having coverage issue in your house! It packs with heck of useful features!

Finally, I would like to say thank you to D-Link Malaysia for giving me opportunity to test and review D-Link DIR-878 AC1900 Wireless MU-MIMO Dual-Band Gigabit Router.
