Cooler Master has recently released the Nepton 120XL and 240M which are the latest additions to the their Nepton AIO cooler series. This time the latest AIO coolers are made based on 120mm fan size as compared to the previous models of Nepton 140XL and 280L which were using 140mm fan size. The Nepton closed-loop water cooler features many exclusively designed components, from high flow rate pump and custom ultra-fine micro-channel water block to thick FEP tubing, the new Nepton series water cooling systems are custom-designed from the ground up by Cooler Master to provide high performance cooling capabilities. Today, Cooler Master Malaysia is kind enough to send us their Nepton 120XL AIO cooler for review.

In this section, we will make an unboxing of Cooler Master Nepton 120XL. The cooler package is pretty simple on the outside which is pre-packed with clear plastic to cover the box.
On the front of the box, Cooler Master highlighted several features of the cooler itself such as extreme cooling performance, new Silencio 120mm fan, durable FEP Tubing and the most important is the cooler is backed by 5 years of warranty!
At the back side CM showcased their performance test to compare with stock cooler and Nepton 240M and 120XL. Besides that, there’s a simple illustration for the size of radiator and water block.
On one side of the retail packaging, we can see the full specifications of the the Cooler Master Nepton 120XL. and its socket compatibility.
User can access to the serial number and model name for the Nepton 120XL on the bottom part of the box.
Once the box is opened, there’s a layer of soft foam to protect the product. We have a detailed document describing the warranty information of the cooler.
The package is well protected with the soft card box with separate compartment for each part of the cooler.

User can check the model name of Nepton 120XL on the left and right side of the radiator. The radiator is quite thick which is 38mm.
Cooler master is using standard fins for its radiator which is not too short or far apart from each fin. As this cooler type is an AIO, the cooler came with factory filled with coolant, then sealed and pressure tested which requires zero maintenance for years and hassle free due to 5 years of warranty. Apart from that, Cooler Master implements their cooler with robust FEP Material that thinner but much stronger wall than standard tubing. The special anti-kink structure helps to increase kink resistance and the tube has larger inner diameters that allows greater volume of water flow.
Cooler Master created exclusive motor with greater water flow of up to 120 liters/hour due to Jet Impingment Technology for the waterblock with extremely low vibration thanks to advances silent driver integrated circuit inside the waterblock. The logo of Cooler master on the middle part of the cooler features an LED illumination that providing stylish accent to the system.
Cooler Master Neptop 120XL is using larger copper based compare with other AIO which 62.4mm (Length) x 56.4mm (Width) and with the help of microchannel technology that increased the skived fin area of up to 32000mm2.
The Nepton 120XL is equipped with the all-new Silencio FP 120 fan which provides higher air pressure while remaining quiet which produce as low as 6.5dBa of noise.
The fan is using standard 12V DC with ball bearing technology.

This is the setup that were used for the whole testing and benchmarking process for the Cooler Master Nepton 120XL
For the stress test we compare between Intel’s stock cooler and Cooler Master Nepton 120XL AIO Cooler. The processor is compared with stock clock of 3.7GHz @ 1.03V vCore and overclocked to 4.2GHz @ 1.2V vCore by using the ASUS OC Tuner that comes with the motherboard and tortured for 30 minutes with Prime95 v27.7 stressing application.
The load temperature obtained with Cooler Master Nepton 120XL was 32°C lower than the stock cooler. Besides that, this AIO cooler also reduced the idle temperature by 11 °C.
Cooler Master Nepton 120XL did an excellent job for the cooling. With the processor overclocked to 4.2 GHz, this cooler recorded the maximum temperature of 68°C which is 36°C lower than stock cooler.
Cooler Master has hit the mark with their new Nepton Series cooler. The Nepton 120XL is relatively easy to install and have an aesthetic value with LED illuminating on the waterblock on the Cooler Master logo. The Nepton 120XL is silent thanks to the combination of the new Silencio Fans with the rubber pad gasket on the fan even with the push and pull setting. It seems that Cooler Master successfully improved the Nepton series with the Silencio FP fans which made the Nepton 120XL one of the quietest AIO we have tested so far, yet without sacrificing it’s performance. Needless to day, it provides better headroom for overclocking with the temperature achieved. Apart from that, Cooler Master is giving 5 years of warranty for the Nepton 120XL.
